DigitalGlobe is honored to have the privilege to serve our nation’s service members everyday with our high resolution satellite imagery and GEOINT solutions. Programs such as DigitalGlobe’s Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (Global-EGD) put information and insight in the hands of service members to meet their mission needs and help save lives. As one way to honor these service members’ unwavering commitment and personal sacrifices, we are pleased to have recognized our nation’s service members through supporting Penn State’s Military Appreciation Day which took place on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in University Park, PA.
Penn State and DigitalGlobe have an academia-industry partnership that has grown through collaborations such as the Geospatial Intelligence & the Geospatial Revolution MOOC and support of the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Award in Geospatial Intelligence.

DigitalGlobe participated Penn State’s Military Appreciation Day through the following activities:
- Seats for Service Members: A donation to Penn State’s program enabled service members and their families to attend the sold-out Penn State vs. Army West Point Military Appreciation Day game, Saturday, October 3, 2015.
- Resource Fair at the Military Appreciation Day Tailgate: In conjunction with the recent launch of DigitalGlobe’s GeoHIVETM crowdsourcing community, DigitalGlobe participated in the Resource Fair held as part of the Military Appreciation Day tailgate attended by service members and their families. Service members stopped by to check out the DigitalGlobe table to learn how to access commercial satellite imagery through Global-EGD and sign up to participate in our GeoHIVE community.
- Selfie from Space: Look up! Just prior to kickoff, in collaboration with Penn State Athletics, DigitalGlobe attempted to collect a selfie from space to provide a high resolution satellite image of this unique event to honor service members. Unfortunately, the imagery was cloudy due to the rainy weather during Saturday’s game.
