The rise of near-peer adversaries is resetting the Pentagon’s priorities and approach to sustaining military competitive advantages. Last month, Maxar CEO Dan Jablonsky joined Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf, Atlantic Council Nonresident Senior Fellow Dr. Melissa Flagg, and National Defense Industrial Association Chairman Maj. Gen. Arnold Punaro for an Atlantic Council discussion on how the DOD can adapt acquisition practices to improve its access to the U.S. innovation base.

Topics discussed included public-private partnerships, innovating on tight timelines within defined budgets, data integration, supply chains and more.

“We're in the midst of this really big geopolitical, strategic resort of supply chains and national security issues,” Jablonsky said during the discussion. Referencing how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted and restructured the commercial global supply chain in many ways, he added, “There are a lot of parallels in terms of how we think about strategic objectives on the defense intelligence side as well.”
