Maxar Technologies announced at Amazon Web Services (AWS) Summit, Washington, DC, that it attained the AWS Government Competency. This designation recognizes Maxar’s experience working with government customers to deliver mission-critical workloads and applications on AWS that help to meet mandates, reduce costs, drive efficiencies and increase innovation across civilian agencies, national defense and intelligence communities, and state and local governments.

Customers working with AWS Government Competency Partners have access to innovative, cloud-based solutions that comply with the highest AWS standards. This is the second competency Maxar has achieved as a member of the AWS Partner Network (APN).

To earn the AWS Government Competency, Maxar demonstrated its commitment to supporting government organizations with its Earth Intelligence and space-based technology solutions, including:

  • Providing SecureWatch, Maxar’s cloud-based subscription service for secure and timely access to Earth Intelligence, to international governments. With a broad range of imagery and geospatial information products, SecureWatch provides unrivaled coverage, quality and flexibility. Subscribers can quickly access more than 3 million square kilometers of daily image collections and more than 6 billion square kilometers of archived imagery at up to 30 cm resolution.
  • Maxar’s Geospatial Human Imagery Verification Effort (GeoHIVE), which is a team of geospatial analysts, geospatial developers and imagery analysts who interact with a vetted crowd of online users to validate, discover and annotate features of interest in Maxar’s satellite imagery. GeoHIVE hosts campaigns on a website where members of the crowd earn compensation for answering simple questions about satellite imagery, tagging features of interest or drawing bounding boxes around features of interest.
  • Delivering Maxar’s WeatherDesk™ helps government organizations anticipate and mitigate changing weather conditions by accessing global weather forecasts and observations for better business, mission and operations decision-making. WeatherDesk offers data services, web applications and information reports to support diverse customer needs and workflows.
  • Additionally, Maxar stores its 125+ petabyte optical satellite imagery library in Amazon Glacier and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), which allows the company to quickly deliver imagery and insights to those that need it most.

"Earning the AWS Government Competency is the latest milestone in Maxar’s partnership with AWS,” said Tony Frazier, Maxar’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of Public Sector Earth Intelligence. “Our team is dedicated to helping government customers meet their missions by leveraging Maxar’s Earth Intelligence solutions, which AWS helps power.”

Achieving the AWS Government Competency differentiates Maxar as an APN member that provides specialized, demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success with implementing products and services to government organizations.
