The Mendocino Complex fire has consumed more than 363,000 acres making it the largest in modern California state history. Burning northwest of Sacramento, over 13,000 firefighters and 2,300 members of the National Guard are battling the blaze. As of August 16, containment is at approximately 64% according to Cal Fire. Under current conditions, officials think possible containment can be reached by September 1. Destroyed structures from the fire have risen to just over 220, including 116 residences.
